The Hazard!
Hoyts Cinemas is recalling this product because it poses a choking hazard.
Some of the character toppers have been identified as having a manufacturing defect which may result in the characters breaking if dropped, pulled or twisted.
Children are at risk of choking if small broken parts are placed in the mouth.
What to do...
- If you suspect a child has ingested a small broken part, or if a child is having difficulty breathing, call Emergency Services (111) or go to the nearest hospital emergency room for medical treatment straight away.
- Immediately discontinue use of the character topper and lid and either dispose of them or return them to Hoyts Cinemas New Zealand, as below. Note that the cups themselves are not defective and do not pose any risk, so can continue to be used.
- Either:
a. Contact Hoyts Cinemas New Zealand using the contact details on this notice to arrange for the product to be returned for a full refund.
b. Visit any Hoyts Cinema in New Zealand to return the product for a full refund. - If you have already disposed of the character topper or given it (or the whole cup) to another person, please contact that person to advise them of the recall.
