The Hazard!

In April 2024, WorkSafe NZ found that all Serene S2069 wall mounted bathroom heaters imported, purchased, or installed since June 2018 are non-compliant with safety standards and the approval for this heater has been withdrawn.

Serene S2069 heaters are non-compliant with safety standards and Energy safety is investigating a reported fire event associated with a Serene S2069 heater.

What to do...

Check if your heater is a Serene model S2069

  • Energy Safety considers there is a low risk from continued use. However if you observe an unusual smell or noise from the heater, do not use it and contact an electrical worker to check it over
  • New Zealanders can ask the retailer that the Serene S2069 heater was purchased from for a replacement or a refund under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
