The Hazard!

Defect in harness paddings component of Thule RideAlong.

The harness padding of the Thule RideAlong bike seats can contain flame-retardant DecaBDE in excess of regulatory limits, posing a chemical hazard. DecaBDE can be toxic if it’s ingested or comes into contact with skin or eyes.

Thule has conducted a risk assessment on the potentially affected products in accordance with the EU method for risk assessment for non-food consumer products, found in Part III, Appendix 6 of the RAPEX Guidelines. Consequently, by combining the severity of the harm with the probability, Thule has classified the risk as low.

What to do...

Stop using the Thule RideAlong and remove the harness padding from the bike seat in accordance with the instructions on how to replace the RideAlong harness padding.

Contact Thule to receive further information about how to dispose of the harness and how to register for a new spare replacement harness, free of charge.
