The Hazard!

As the heaters age and begin to fail they fail unsafely and can overheat and catch fire. The affected heaters have the potential to cause a fire.

What to do...

Stop using and dispose of the heaters in such a way that they cannot be used: The "Electricity Regulations Prohibited Electrical Appliances Notice for the heaters mean that it is prohibited to sell or give away your heater. Consumers need to use a licenced electrical worker to remove the unit. Goldair is no longer actively providing replacement heaters and is instead offering a replacement part (connector block) which you will need to hire an electrification to install. Regardless of whether you choose to organise a replacement part through CDBGoldair or dispose of and buy yourself a new heater - MBIE recommends that you stop using the heater and remove it from your home as the #3109 heater and the connector block in the #3108 heaters sold before 2010 can cause a house fire.
