This recall has been extended to all batches of Baby Teething Powder and Baby Colic Powder sold from online retailers, health stores, and pharmacies nationwide from October 2018 to April 2019.  

Weleda (NZ) Ltd is recalling all batches of Baby Teething Powder and Baby Colic Powder because small (~1cm long), soft, slivers of white plastic could potentially peel off the jar cap upon first opening.

Information for consumers and caregivers

  • Do not use any Baby Teething Powder and Baby Colic Powder that you have it in your possession.
  • Return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
  • Alternatively return them to Weleda NZ for a refund by addressing the package to Medicine Recall Coordinator, Weleda NZ Ltd, Freepost 125 PO BOX 8132, Havelock North 4157. Please include your name and bank account.
  • This product defect presents a potential for physical contamination of the powder with plastic when opening the jar and may constitute a choking hazard.
  • The company can be reached at 0800 802 174 if you have questions about this recall.
  • Consult with your doctor if you are concerned about the health of your child following consumption of this product.
  • Report any adverse events by calling the Centre for Adverse Reactions Monitoring (CARM) toll-free at 0800 466 678 or by reporting online at https://nzphvc.otago.ac.nz/report.

 

Information for healthcare professionals

  • This recall applies to all batches of Baby Teething Powder and Baby Colic Powder sold from October 2018 to April 2019.
  • Caregivers should be advised that they should stop using the affected product(s) immediately.
  • The company is requesting all customers who have bought the affected product(s) to return it to the place of purchase for a refund, or alternatively to return them to Weleda NZ for a refund by addressing the package to Medicine Recall Coordinator, Weleda NZ Ltd, Freepost 125 PO BOX 8132, Havelock North 4157. Bank account name and bank account should be included in the return.
  • This product defect presents a potential for physical contamination of the powder with plastic when opening the jar and may constitute a choking hazard.
