Sold at Mitre 10 Mega, Placemakers, and various electrical wholesalers, plumbing merchants nationwide before 2013 Models affected: FV602 FV603 FV652 FV653 Your unit is affected if it is red or green with 2 or 3 outlets, and either; (a) does not have a label, or (b) has a label, but no batch number The junction (adapter) on the affected range product has one of the codes FVY602, FVW603, FVY652, FVW653. Its possible that the sticker has been removed on some units.

On 19 June 2014 Energy Safety issued the Electricity Regulations (Prohibited Electrical Appliances – Weiss Heat Transfer System Models FV602, FV603, FV652 and FV653, Produced Prior to May 2012) Notice 2014.

Products included in prohibition - Weiss Heat Transfer System Models FV602, FV603, FV652 and FV653, produced prior to May 2012.

As of 19 June 2014 it is prohibited to:

  • Sell the prohibited items
  • Use the prohibited items

The Hazard!

The heat transfer units have ineffective thermal protection that can, in certain circumstances, allow the motor to overheat and cause a fire. There have been multiple house fires involving these units and there is a significant risk of further fires.

Turn and check your heat transfer system - if it is one of the affected Weiss models sold prior to 2013 then stop using it. Contact Weiss for assistance or more information.
