TOYOTA PRIUS, Model years 2015-2016
The foot operated park brake mechanism for involved Prius vehicles has an issue. Overtime, during normal operation of the vehicle, the park brake cable could become disengaged from the crank lever, causing the parking brake to become inoperative. If the parking brake does not engage and the transmission is left in a gear other than 'Park' with the ignition on, the vehicle could roll away, increasing the risk of a crash. Not all Prius models are involved.
What to do...
As an owner of an involved vehicle, you will be contacted by registered letter requesting you to contact your nearest authorised Toyota Dealer to arrange a convenient time to have the repairs completed. Alternatively, contact Toyota's Customer Dialogue Centre to discuss.
