Potentially affected motors sold in New Zealand from March 2010 to June 2018 - Travel sold from March 2010 to December 2017. - Ultralight sold from May 2011 to June 2018. Travel: serial numbers from 1001 to 1752 (first four numbers) Ultralight serial numbers from 1117 to 1826 (first four numbers) If your model is not within the serial number range, it is not in the potentially affected range and you do not need to do anything further. If your battery is within the affected serial number range, use the tool on torqeedo's website to see of it needs to be checked at a dealer. Other Torqeedo outboard motors are not affected.

The Hazard!

The battery housing of the motor may not be watertight on some units, allowing water to enter the housing when submerged. If water enters the housing, it may cause a chemical reaction with the lithium battery that could lead to a fire.

What to do...

If you have one of the potentially affected models, stop using it and register the battery with Torqeedo via their website. You will be directed to a local Torqeedo Service Centre who will check the affected products for water tightness and repair where necessary.
