The Hazard!

Subaru Model Year (MY) 2015 Legacy and Outback vehicles equipped with an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), it may be possible that due to a Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) module programming issue, the EPB motor may 'stick' post engagement of the EPB (for example when parking) and the EPB may not be able to be subsequently released. If the EPB does not release, the vehicle will remain in situ until such time as the issue is rectified. This may cause a hazard to the driver and or other road users. Out of an abundance of caution, Subaru of New Zealand has decided to conduct a Service Recall Campaign on behalf of Fuji Heavy Industries. The Recall Rectification Procedure will consist of the EPB element of the Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) module being reprogrammed.

What to do...

If you are the owner of a potentially affected vehicle please contact your Subaru Authorised Dealer and arrange a mutually acceptable appointment to have the Recall Rectification Procedure carried out. This procedure will be carried out free of charge.
