Subaru BRZ, Model years 2013-2015
Subaru of New Zealand has been advised by Fuji Heavy Industries (the Japanese manufacturer of Subaru vehicles) that certain Model Year (MY) 2013-2015 BRZ vehicles may develop a poor electrical connection between the resolver harness and the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) of the Electric Power Steering (EPS). This poor electrical connection may cause the vehicle to lose power assistance for the steering. It is important to note that even if power assistance for the steering is lost, the vehicle retains manual steering capability. However, the loss of power steering assistance will increase the steering effort. Consequently, Subaru of New Zealand has decided to carry out this recall out of an abundance of caution, following notification from FHI. The Recall Rectification Procedure consists of replacement of the resolver harness and EPS ECU.
