The Hazard!
This is an amendment to the affected vehicles in the previous recall campaigns that were launched globally in 2013, 2014 2015. It has been identified that the airbag inflators may have been manufactured out of specification.
Due to moisture absorption over time, the inflator propellant wafers may create excessive pressure in the inflator housing during deployment. As a result, there is a possibility of abnormal deployment. In rare cases, the inflator housing may rupture and the metal fragments may scatter.
What to do...
Owners of affected vehicles within the affected VIN range will be advised by letter to contact their Nissan Dealer to arrange for rectification of their vehicle. The rectification involves replacing the front passenger airbag inflator. The replacement is at no cost to the customer.
