The Hazard!

Potential machining errors during the engine manufacturing process may cause premature bearing wear within the engine. As a result, these issues can restrict the flow of oil to the bearings resulting in premature bearing wear. A worn connecting rod bearing will produce a cyclic knocking noise from the engine and may also result in the illumination of the vehicle’s engine warning lamp and/or oil pressure warning lamp in the instrument panel. If the warnings are ignored and the vehicle continues to be driven, the bearing may fail and the vehicle could stall while in motion.

What to do...

After receiving a confirmation letter from Kia Motors New Zealand Ltd by mail, affected vehicles should be presented to your nearest authorized Dealer for inspection as soon as possible.
