The Hazard!
Potential loosening of the main shaft and coupling over time or failure of the safety catch spring could result in the coupling body and trailer detaching from the tow ball.
If the safety chain is not being used, the trailer could detach from the vehicle, which may pose a crash hazard to other road users.
