BMW Motorrad has ascertained that the fastener of the side-stand switch is not sufficiently secure. In isolated cases, over the vehicle's life span the side-stand switch can work loose and subsequently suffer damage. If the side-stand switch is not working reliably the engine does not shut down when a gear is engaged with the side stand extended. Under these circumstances it is possible to ride off with the side stand extended, and if this happens the occurrence of critical riding situations cannot be excluded.
