Given certain unfavorable combinations of tolerances, the final drive can be subject to the occurrence of fretting corrosion between the inner bearing race of the needle roller bearing and the bearing seat of the input shaft. As the distance covered by the motorcycle increases, this can result in increased wear of the input shaft and, consequently, to excessive play at the rear wheel.
