The Hazard!
On the vehicles affected by the recall, a 12V battery cable has a bolted connection where it passes through the front bulkhead on the right hand side. There is a possibility that this connection may be loose on a small number of vehicles. In most instances, the customer is unable to start the engine. However, in very rare cases, if the battery is significantly discharged and the vehicle is being operated under increased electrical load, a loose electrical connection can overheat whilst the vehicle is in use. This overheating could lead to a vehicle fire.
What to do...
We intend to provide written notification to owners of affected vehicles, through our official dealer network, requesting that the vehicle is returned to one of our official dealers for the original nuts to be replaced with prevailing torque nuts and tightened to the correct torque. This procedure will be carried out free of charge.
